Hello everyone, following Erb0l's post I tried coming up with some new abilities too. Here they are.
1. Trample / Overrun: When slaying a card, this card deals excess damage to the enemy card in the field behind the target. With this, I mean the field opposite to the field you attacked from; so if you attacked from the field left of the target, you deal excess damage to the field right of the target, and if you hit from the field below the target, you deal excess damage to the field above the target, etc.
2. Sentinel: Enemy cards cannot occupy and/or move through some fields adjacent to this card. For example the fields left and right, or in front, or behind the card, like with Protector cards.
3. Shapeshifter: This card has two different shapes and can switch between them during your turn. For example a 5/3/2/1 form and a 3/6/1/1 form. Counts as an action, so the card can’t both shapeshift and move/attack during the same turn.
4. Armoured: When attacked, this card takes one less damage. (Stole this from Kards)
5. Carrier (there probably is a better name): When this card is slain, it spawns a new card in the field it occupied when it was slain.
6. Shove Aside: When attacking, this card can push the attacked card or some adjacent card(s) into a hexagon different from the one they previously occupied.
7. Mirroring (there probably is a better name for this too): When attacking/killing an enemy card, this card gains the ability of that card. You could make it only trigger once, or make it trigger every time a new card is attacked. Attacking a card with no ability can either trigger the ability (so you don’t gain any ability and can’t gain one anymore if the first implementation is followed, or you lose the ability you stole earlier if the second implementation is followed), or not interact with the ability (so nothing happens and you keep the ability you have).

I rly like the Tremple/Overrun ability, one of the things i'm likig about GOL is how position matter, making abilities that works with the position of the card makes it even cooler and thats what makes AOE cards one of my favorites.
There could be some whip, chain archer, who would bring cards towards him kind of Arachnids Scorpion "Get over here!" As there is lot of these blast or whirlwind abilities, it coulb be nice to have few unit to be immune against it.
As paralyze is super strong, there could be just slow ablity.
More support units, which gives units in field next to them some buffs not just
protection (attack, defend)
Slayer - very bellow avarage pioner, with ability to kill guys with power above 8 or 9
Guardina Nulifaier - his only ablity would be to nulify oponent Guardina ability
I really like the your 6th idea. Perhaps we can also add some side effect: such as if there are units or terrain on the way you push, those collided units will all suffer some damage or will be unconscious in the next round.
MIMIC
When adjacent to a ally it gains their ability. This ignore guardians ability.
